Trust God No Matter What

- By Brenette Wilder Special to The Commercial

On January 6, 2021, our Capitol was surrounded in chaos. After the first hour of being glued to the television set, I couldn’t watch any longer. It was heart breaking. However, I was reminded in prayer that

God stands ready to bring order from chaos.

After all, He was the one who told chaos to surrender to light during creation. And, He is the one who will make the world alive once again.

The advice I have during chaotic times is to be firmly secure that the rug cannot be snatched from under your feet with God on your side. He is never far away. He is not asleep on the job. And, He stands ready to shelter and protect you.

Seek God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track -- Proverbs 3:5-6 MSG.

Draw near to Him and in return He will draw near to you. The Bible encourages us to be specific in our prayers. So, be open and real with Him. Let him know you are concerned for our country.

Ask Him to heal the divisions between one another and to teach us how to see the best in everyone at all times. Say to Him, “Lord, help us to respect our friends and neighbors by not using harmful words that grieve them or the Holy Spirit.”

Without God, we have no hope of success. And, if success means using coercion to achieve our goals, then you can keep it. If it means living in the finest homes or taking glamorous vacations, and God’s not there, then I choose to live in a shack and vacation in my own backyard.

And, when I die, if it means not being with Him, then what’s the purpose of life? I don’t want to be without

Him, no-way, no-how. I want Him in the midst of everything I do.

So, wherever you are right now, pause and pray for our country and the presence of God.

My Prayer: God, we can’t live without you. We need your strength to help us through these chaotic times. Teach us the proper path to peace and justice. Help our decisions to be fragrant with your loving-kindness and truth. Help us to be in union with You and one another.
