On simmering down
Lower the temperature? Donald Trump, Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz fomented a seditious conspiracy that riled up a terrorist mob to the point of an attack on the Capitol. The lies that Trump and his cronies told created the mob, many of whom were convinced that they had to attack members of Congress to prevent the certification of the election.
Funny thing about mobs, though. They seem to be hard to control. After reaching a fever pitch, this mob went completely berserk, killing a Capitol police officer and declaring their intent to execute Mike Pence if they could get to him. Yes. Trump threw Pence under the bus, or, should we say, tried to feed him to the mob for not going along with the coup attempt. And now, some of the Republicans like Cruz have decided maybe it’s time to turn down the temperature?
Keep in mind, it’s not the Trump mob that they think should simmer down. Instead, they’d like the Democrats and all those who are outraged by the insurrection to forget about what happened and just go about their business. That’s insane. If Trump and Cruz want to lower the temperature, they can stop lying about the election and beg forgiveness for the attempted coup. Having failed at overturning the results of the election, the Trump mob should be done, right? So why are they threatening to return to Washington to finish the job? Does Trump really think a second attack will be more successful? Who knows? The man is clearly insane but we’re supposed to ignore that and just wait for his next move? That’s insane. The only move we need to see from Donald Trump is out of the White House quickly, and hopefully, out of the country forever. MICHAEL FOX
