Double-double powers Watson Chapel’s win

Antwon Emsweller has turned into a double-double machine for Watson Chapel.

The 6-foot-7 junior totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds Friday in leading the Wildcats to a 49-34 win at Warren.

Emsweller now has five double-doubles on the season after following up a 17-point, 17-rebound effort at Hamburg on Tuesday.

Classmates Hampton Hall and Christophe­r Fountain each scored 11 points for Chapel (5-5, 4-2 in Conference 4A-8), which has its longest winning streak of the season at three.

Hall and Fountain combined for seven rebounds. Sophomore Khamani Cooper had 10 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Wildcats coach Marcus Adams credited senior point guard Kamron Wilkins his play on both ends of the court.

Wilkins had four rebounds and six assists, and took three charges.

“We would not have gotten through this game without this young man,” Adams said.

“He guarded the other team’s best player. He got the ball to the right people. He’s our floor general, leader and our heart and soul of this team.”

Chapel will return home to face Star City on Tuesday, with tipoff at approximat­ely 7 p.m.

DOLLARWAY 75, LISA ACADEMY WEST 42

In Little Rock, balanced scoring helped the Cardinals (4-6, 3-3 in 3A-6) even their conference record and pulled them within a tie for fourth place with Palestine-Wheatley, which Dollarway defeated earlier this season.

Prince Okojie led the Cardinals with 14 points Friday, with Devion Branch (12 points) and Treyvion Logan (10) contributi­ng.

LISA Academy West fell to 0-9 and 0-6 in Conference 3A-6, according to ScorebookL­ive.com.

Dollarway will host DeWitt on Tuesday.

HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE 77, WHITE HALL 47

In White Hall, the Rams (7-2, 2-1 in 5A-South) shot well from the floor from start to finish and outpaced the Bulldogs (4-8, 0-3) inside Bert Honey Gymnasium.

Tavin Dunlap, coming off a 26-point showing against Sheridan, led the Bulldogs with 13 points.

Dunlap shot 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Ivian Lee contribute­d 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Lakeside set the tone with a 22-9 first quarter and led 41-21 at halftime. Caleb Campbell, who had 16 points, made four of the Rams’ eight 3-point baskets.

Tyler Frederick also scored 16 points, and Wylyn Harris had 13 for the Rams.

White Hall’s game at Pine Bluff, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed.

The Bulldogs will host Hot Springs High on Friday.

GIRLS WATSON CHAPEL 52, WARREN 17

In Warren, the Wildcats (6-8, 4-2 in 4A-8) led the entire game and held the Lady ’Jacks (3-5, 0-3) to single-digit scoring in each quarter.

DeKeira Kentle scored 15 points, and DaNasia Massey knocked down 12 for the Wildcats, who led 29-11 at halftime.

Watson Chapel will host conference-leading Star City (15-3, 4-0) starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Leslie Henderson Gymnasium.

DOLLARWAY 55, LISA ACADEMY WEST 29

In Little Rock, the Cardinals earned their first victory of the season in convincing fashion.

Ke’nya Pugh scored 14 and Olivia Arnold had 12 to lead Dollarway (1-10, 1-5 in 3A-6), which will host a strong DeWitt ballclub on Tuesday in Dollarway Fieldhouse. LISA Academy West fell to 1-8, 0-6.

HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE 54, WHITE HALL 47

In White Hall, the Bulldogs dropped to 4-6 and 0-2 in the 5A-South while the Rams remained in the thick of the conference race at 9-5 and 2-1.

With the postponeme­nt of Tuesday’s game at Pine Bluff, White Hall will host Hot Springs High on Friday.
