YURA KIM THORNELL,

-

64, peacefully passed away at her home on January 20, 2021. She was born in Seoul, Korea, on February 23, 1956, to the late Hak and Eah Kim.

Yura spent most of her childhood in Korea and moved to the United States in her early 20s. Once here, she started up her own beauty supply business, Kims Fashion, in Hot Springs, which became successful enough that she opened another location in Little Rock. She owned and operated Kims Fashion for close to 20 years while fighting cancer until she retired due to health issues. Yura was one of a kind with a firecracker personality. There was never a dull moment when you were around her and her positivity even in the darkest times was admirable. Fighting cancer on and off for the last 20 years didn’t stop her from travelling and enjoying life to the fullest. She loved playing the piano and singing in the choir at the Korean First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where she was one of the first members, as well as spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish Yura’s memory include her husband of 18 years, George Thornell; daughters, Kelly Hall and Kira Riser; and grandchildren, Traceson Riser, Riley Riser, Logan Heard, and Kaysi Hill.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2021 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. The visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2021, at the funeral home. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.
