Answers to key vaccination questions

-

Q: How can I get an appointment for a vaccination, or get on a waiting list?

A: You have to be eligible under Arkansas’ vaccination rollout plan. And many who are eligible now, such as long-term-care staff members and residents, and education workers, will likely receive immunization plans from their employers or the long-term-care facilities where they live, according to the Arkansas Department of Health’s vaccination website, https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/covid-19-vaccination-plan.

Arkansans 70 and older, also eligible now, generally have to make their own arrangements.

They should make appointments through community pharmacies, consisting of about 230 mostly independent businesses, and through vaccination clinics and events that may be available in their areas through hospitals and health care providers.

To locate community pharmacies, a Health Department map and list are available online at: https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/covid-19-map-of-1-a-pharmacy-locations

The Health Department also suggests Arkansans ask their usual pharmacists, who may be part of the vaccination program, or should be able to direct them to a nearby pharmacy that is giving the shots. Q: Can I get more help fast? A: Call the Health Department’s toll-free covid-19 hot line for comments and questions: (800) 803-7847.

It is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, according to a recorded message.
