Victim’s family asks for help
Mother of 4 shot down in front of her children outside NLR apartment
The Pulaski County sheriff’s office is requesting help from the public in its investigation into the death of a woman who was shot in 2018 in North Little Rock.
April Harris, a 30-year-old mother of four, was killed in front of her children Jan. 19, 2018, by a masked man who ambushed her just after she left her residence at the Fairfax Crossing apartments.
Harris was shot in the head while carrying her 5-year-old daughter, who was shot in the arm. Another of Harris’ children was near her mother, while Harris’ oldest child was in Harris’ vehicle nearby.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Robert Garrett said during a news conference Friday that investigators have pursued leads but have not solved the case.
“The investigation has been ongoing,” Garrett said. “Unfortunately, it is still unsolved.”
Lieutenant of Investigations Michael Blain urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact the sheriff’s office.
“Any and all leads are followed up on,” Blain said. “We are asking anyone with any information regarding the homicide of April Harris to contact this agency and speak to our detective.”
There is a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the fatal shooting.
Tammie Flemming, Harris’ mother, also urged community members to share any information they might have with the sheriff’s office or on the family’s Facebook page at facebook.com/JusticeForApril/.
“I live that day over every day, over and over and over,” Flemming said during Friday’s news conference. “I cannot rest until I find out who is responsible for my daughter’s death.
“So I’m asking anyone in the community: If you know anything — anything, the smallest thing — if you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to detectives, we have a Facebook page for April. You can reach out to us.”
