4 people die in crashes on state roadways; month’s toll at 40

Crashes on Arkansas roadways claimed the lives of four more people last week, raising the state total of roadway fatalities to 40 in January, according to Arkansas State Police crash summary reports.

Craig Curry, 44, of Camden was killed when his 2008 Dodge Ram ran off the left side of Arkansas 355 in Nevada County near Falcon at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a crash summary. His pickup struck a bridge and came to rest in a creek, the summary says.

The weather was clear, and the pavement was dry at the time of the crash, the summary said.

On Friday, a man identified as John Doe, 38, of Little Rock died in a crash on Interstate 530 in Jefferson County.

Doe was traveling north in his 2008 GMC Sierra when he lost control of the vehicle near mile marker 18 at 9:08 p.m., a report says.

The vehicle struck a tree before coming to rest, the summary says.

The weather was cloudy, and the pavement was dry at the time of the crash, according to the report.

On Saturday, Robert Bell, 50, of Green Forest was killed when his 2004 Nissan FKX overturned about 2:30 a.m. as he was traveling north on Arkansas 103 south of Green Forest, a summary says. His vehicle left the roadway, swerved back onto the pavement and overturned, ejecting Bell, the summary says.

The weather was listed as clear and the pavement as dry at the time of the crash.

Later Saturday morning, Juan Gonzalez, 46, of Little Rock was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 30 in Pulaski County.

Gonzalez was traveling west in a 2010 Honda Accord about 6 a.m. when his car veered to the right at mile marker 133, the summary says. His car struck the passenger side of a 2013 Toyota Rav4, also traveling west.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Rav4, Randy Thomas, 44, of Pangburn was injured but was not taken to a hospital for treatment, the summary said.

The weather was cloudy, and the pavement was dry at the time of the crash, the summary says.
