OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. — Stephen Owen “Butch” Bounds,

66, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Sunday. Steve was born in Little Rock, Ark. He was raised by his Aunt Sue and Paternal Grandmothe­r. After graduating from Hall High School, he started to work as a lineman for the Arkansas Power and Light. From there he made a career working for Nursing Home Corporatio­ns and traveling all across the United States.

Steve and Cathy were married on December 31, 1982. They met in October 1982, at the Hillhaven Nursing Home in Birmingham, Ala., where Cathy was working as a bookkeeper and Steve was working on a facility project as an Area Maintenanc­e Director for Hillhaven.

Steve grew up loving the sport of deer hunting. He helped establish the Cape Fear Hunting Club in Lillington, N.C., in 1991. And was still an active member. He will be missed dearly by his hunting buddies, Wade Berthelot, Larry Tutza, Doug Parsons, Eric Truelove, Scott Truelove, Kirk Leone, Hal Abbott, Steve Fuster, and Ron Ellington the Harnett County Game Warden.

Steve was preceded in death by grandmothe­r, Ada Bounds, and his aunt, Marion “Aunt Sue” Bounds, both of Little Rock, Ark. Surviving are wife, Cathy Craig Bounds; daughter, Trina (David) Hanks, and grandchild­ren, Jeremy Hanks and Abigail Hanks of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, William C “Bill” (Linda) Bounds of Conway, Ark., Michael H Bounds (Kay) of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Nancy Bounds (Rod) Wuneburger of Mabelvale, Ark., and Tondalaya Bounds Currier of Port Orange, Fla.; and other loved ones, nephews, nieces, inlaws, and friends.

Steve’s wishes were for his ashes to be scattered near his deer stand at deer camp. This ceremony will be held later this year. www.nhfh.net.
