Jefferson County Food & Safety Report
The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Recent reports include:
■ DOLLAR GENERAL STORE, 3100 Olive St. Date of inspection Feb. 5. Some ceiling tiles throughout facility are damaged and need to be replaced. Some ceiling vents throughout store are unclean and need to be cleaned.
■ LA ESTRELLITA TIENDA MEXICANA, 28th Avenue, Rodrigo Cano. Date of inspection Feb. 5. Observed food out original container. Food not in the original packages for use in Establishment must be identified with the common name of the food.
■ SMOKIN HAWG BBQ LLC, mobile, 8405 Camden Cutoff Road. Date of inspection Feb. 3. Observation: Observed food debris on counter top. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.
■ THE CORNER STORE, 3800 Highway 425 South. Date of inspection Feb. 3. No hand washing instructions at hand sink. Post instructions. No address on ice bags. Store bagged ice needs store address on them. Observation: Saw no sanitizer test strips. Corrective Action: Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions.
■ SUBWAY, 7401 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection Feb. 2. Observed employee jacket being stored on shelf with single use containers. Employees belongings should be stored separate from single use containers. Employee jacket was moved during inspection.
■ TASTY DONUTS, 8021 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection Feb. 2. Observed trash can in kitchen containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans in kitchen containing food residue should be covered when not in continuous use.
■ CITA BEE’S LEARNING ACADEMY, 613 W. Eighth Ave. Date of inspection Feb. 1. Observation: Facility lacks [internal probe food thermometer or refrigerator thermometer]. Corrective Action: Food temperature measuring device shall be provided and readily accessible for use in ensuring attainment and maintenance of food temperature.
■ CHEF LEE, 502 Mallard Loop. Date of inspection into complaint Feb. 10. See Routine assessment dated 2/10/2021. It addresses complaint #8491.
