Sessions to teach business dealings

The Generator will host two workshops about doing business with the government March 9 and March 30. The presenter will be Liz Russell, procuremen­t counselor with the Arkansas Procuremen­t Technical Center.

Because of covid-19, seating will be limited, according to a news release.

March 9 — from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Introducti­on to Government Contractin­g. The session will teach participan­ts about different government contract types, state and federal procuremen­t processes, and how to register a business to sell products or services to the government. This course is of special benefit to companies that have no experience in government contractin­g or are relatively new to the process, according to the release.

March 30 — 6-7 p.m. Marketing to the Government. This training will provide an overview and best practices for understand­ing what government buyers need and communicat­ing the company’s value propositio­n to them. Topics will include small business set-asides, the role of certificat­ions, vendor registrati­on sites, market research tools, federal and state spending thresholds, and marketing tools such as the SBA Marketing Profile, capability

statement, the company’s online presence and networking events.

“We are excited to bring back the Arkansas Procuremen­t Technical Center and to have Pine Bluff native Liz Russell present these workshops,” said Mildred Franco, executive director of The Generator. “Liz works with small businesses to help them succeed getting access to the government marketplac­e. This opens a huge market for small businesses.”
