BENTON — Dennis Powell

of Benton, Ark., left his earthly home and his faith became sight on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Dennis Powell was born in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas to James and Mary Powell.

He graduated from White County Central High School and retired from Reynolds Metal where he worked as a welder. After retirement, Dennis enjoyed working with Arkansas Mission Builders where they helped churches build and repair facilities. Dennis was a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist church where he served as a deacon for 45 years. He loved Jesus, his family and his church and would help anyone in need. He was known for his quiet strength, his selfless work ethic, and time spent reading and meditating on the Bible.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father, mother, and one sister, Betty Wheeler (Travis) of Tucson, Ariz. He is lovingly remembered by Gloria Powell, his wife of 57 years; two daughters, Debbie Reed (Steve) of Carlisle, Ark., and Sandy Shepard (Steve) of Benton; seven grandchild­ren, four great-grandchild­ren, one sister, three brothers, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, February 22, from 6 - 8 p.m., at Springhill Missionary Church, 8602 Springhill Road, Alexander. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 23, starting at 10 a.m., also at Springhill MBC. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park on Saturday, February 27, at 3 p.m.
