CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will host author Kiese Laymon, a Black Southern writer from Jackson, Mississipp­i, as an artist-in-residence. WEDNESDAY AND MARCH 10 Conway Conversati­ons: ‘This Book is Anti-Racist’

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas will offer a free virtual seminar, Conway Conversati­ons: “This Book Is Anti-Racist,” at noon Wednesday and March 10. Participan­ts will use selected lessons from the No. 1 New York Times bestseller “This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action and Do The Work.”This interactiv­e book, written by Tiffany Jewell and illustrate­d by Aurelia Durand, uses a series of workbookst­yle lessons to engage readers in understand­ing race and racism, identity and, ultimately, their own voices and the power to make changes in the world around them.

FRIDAY Pilgrimage to Alabama

The Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission’s Pilgrimage to Alabama, a pre-COVID-19 event, will stream at noon. The commission visits the hometown and church of Jimmy Lee Jackson, a martyr for voting rights in Selma, Alabama. ONGOING Veterans Food Pantry

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Veterans Villages Helping Hand Program Food Pantry, 8325 MacArthur Drive, serves all veterans, including activeduty, Guard and Reserve service members and their families in Faulkner and Perry counties. The food pantry will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every other Wednesday, including this week, Feb. 24. The Veterans Villages of America Program is designed to help in other areas, such as unemployme­nt, health care and housing for veterans and service members. Food Pantry and Thrift Store

MORRILTON — The Conway County Care Center’s food pantry,

at 108 W. Broadway, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents of Conway County may visit the pantry once a month to take home free supplement­al food, regardless of household income. The center also operates a thrift store, where clothes and household items are available at a low cost, or free when there is an immediate need. Generation­al Ties Exhibit

CONWAY — The third annual Black History Month exhibition — Generation­al Ties. Who I Am. Who We Were. — is on display at UCA Downtown, 1105 Oak St., through March 5. Gallery hours are 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Fridays. The exhibition­s are curated by the artists in union with the University of Central Arkansas College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences — the art department and the Division of Outreach and Community Engagement. COVID-19 Testing

CONWAY — Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway is offering COVID-19 testing for residents of Faulkner County and surroundin­g areas who have concerns about possible exposure to the virus. The drivethru testing site, located behind BHMC-Conway at
