was born April 19, 1941, in Scott, Ark. He was affectiona­tely known as “Duck Johnson”. He was the son of George Johnson Sr. and Pernella Johnson. Brother Johnson departed this earthly life on Friday, February 26, 2021, in North Little Rock, Ark.

He attended elementary school in the Scott community. His family moved to North Little Rock when he was in the sixth grade. Brother Johnson attended Pulaski County Training School in the McAlmont Community and Scipio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock. He worked for many years as a waiter and bartender at the Pleasant Valley Country Club. He was also employed in the same capacity at the Little Rock Country Club for several years. He retired from the Doubletree Hotel as the Banquet Supervisor in 2011.

Elvin met at married Ophelia Glass Johnson June 10, 1962. To this union, five children were born. Brother Johnson confessed Christ at Love Temple Church of God in Christ in Sweet Home, Ark., under the leadership of Elder Eli Wade. Brother Johnson received the call into the ministry in 1985 and he continued to serve at Love Temple. He later united in fellowship at the New Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ in North Little Rock, Ark., under the leadership of Bishop D. L. Lindsey Sr., where he remained until the Lord called him home. Minister Johnson served as a father-figure for many of his nephews, opening his home and being available to them as a role model. Minister Johnson was a loving father and grandfathe­r who was always available and accessible to his children and grandchild­ren.

Minister Johnson’s wife, Ophelia Glass Johnson and parents, George Johnson Sr. and Pernella Johnson preceeded him in death. Eight siblings also preceeded him in death: Robert Crutchfiel­d, Freddie “Link” Johnson, Leo “Sponey” Johnson, George “Buster” Johnson, OcieBea Crutchfiel­d, Mary Francis Crutchfiel­d, Georgia Johnson and Earnestine Johnson.

Minister Johnson leaves to cherish his memories: five sons, Todd (Cheryl) Johnson of Little Rock, Ark., Courtney (Andrea) Johnson, Alton (Veronica) Johnson and Charles Johnson all of North Little Rock, Ark., and Deon (Ranneisha) Johnson of Cedar Hill, Texas. He leaves one daughter, Caroline (Brian) Banks of Grand Prairie, Texas. He also leaves four sisters: Ora Whitehead of Carlise, Ark., Ruthie Harris of Little Rock, Ark., Lorene Hines of Sherwood, Ark., and Corene Hines of North Little Rock, Ark. He leaves one sister in law, Edith Glass of Sherwood, Ark. Minister Johnson leaves twenty six grandchild­ren and ten great- grandchild­ren. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
