AUSTIN — Elsie Pauline “Polly” West,

age 82, of Austin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was born April 15, 1938, daughter of the late Arch Lee Hays and Lucile Johnston Hays.

Polly’s greatest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren whom she loved beyond measure. She had such a contagious personality that would light up the room with her laughter and witty commentary. She never met a stranger and she loved everyone as though they were family. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting in acrylics and oils. Her character and works of art will remain cherished by her family forever.

She was preceded in death by her sisters; Dora McDaniel and Sibyl Clay, brother’s, James A. Hays, Emmett L. Hays, Sr. and John Paul Hays.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Frederick Andrew West (Dana), Bradley Eugene West (Jennifer); grandchildren, Frederick Andrew West Jr., Lindsey West Chamblee (Justin), Tessa Ellen West, Jaxtyn Guthridge; great-grandchildren, Kolton Bly Fulcher, Kendal Grace Chamblee, Tenley Belle Chamblee, Jetson Vann Chamblee; sisters, Joan McKenzie and Ruby Lane (Bill). She will also be remembered by her many friends including Don Fulmer, Rexford Wood and caregiver Tanya Adams.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 10 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m., in the Chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, in Jacksonville.
