“Pete” Nutt, Sr., 85, of Benton, passed away Saturday March 6, 2021. He was born February 18, 1936, in Benton, Ark., to the late James and Eura Nutt. Pete was the second-generation owner of Nutt Trucking which was started by his father in 1943. The business, now in its third generation, is owned and operated by Pete and Phyllis’ son, Bill Nutt, of Benton.

Pete was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Benton where he was a founding member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. Pete’s loyalty to his church and his community was evident in his caring concern for all people. If Pete heard of someone in need, he would quietly go about making sure that need was met.

Pete’s life was characterized by the unconditional love he had for his family. His most favorite times were spent at Lake Catherine when his children were young and later, at Lake Hamilton, where his grandchildren made fond memories with their Pawpaw.

Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Phyllis Schirmer Nutt; parents, James and Eura Nutt; and a brother, “Jaybird” Nutt, all of Benton, Ark.

Pete is survived by his children William Robert “Bill” Nutt, Jr. (Vonda) and Catherine “Cathy” Nutt Davis; five grandchildren, Brooks Davis (Misti), Tyler Davis (Amanda), Brandon Davis (Mary), Baylee Nutt Daniels (Nick), and Dylan Nutt. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Tony, Rowan, Aria, Blake, and Landon. He entered life eternal prior to meeting his twin grandsons, Brody and Wes, who are due to arrive any day.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 11th, from 6-8 p.m. at Ashby’s Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be on Friday, March 12th, at 9 a.m., First United Methodist Church with Bro. Ben Crismon officiating.

Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Benton. As Pete would say, “I’m the biggest Nutt you’ll ever meet”. Online guestbook at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com
