Calling the Frogs
BATESVILLE — Main Street Batesville will host Calling the Frogs on Saturday in Maxfield Park downtown to celebrate spring and Earth Day. A Calling the Frogs ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Children of all ages will use a wooden percussion instrument that mimics the croaking of a frog. The wooden frogs can be purchased at the park on Saturday or in advance at the Main Street Batesville office, 201 E. Main St. Local musicians will perform in the park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community is invited to help construct a bottle-cap mural for Maxfield Park. BAAC Spring Art Boxes
BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council’s Spring Art Boxes, recommended for ages 5 to 11, are available while supplies last. Each box includes step-by-step instructions, along with all materials needed to create five spring-themed art projects, plus bonus coloring pages. After Birds Exhibit
BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council presents After Birds, an exhibition by
Ian Campbell, at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St., through April 17. Campbell is an assistant professor of art at Lyon College. After Birds is an ongoing series of infrared photographs documenting the habitats of extinct, endangered and disappearing species of American birds. The exhibit is open during BAAC’s regular gallery hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Veterans Food Pantry
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Veterans Villages Helping Hand Program Food Pantry,
8325 MacArthur Drive, serves all veterans, as well as activeduty, Guard and Reserve service members and their families in Pulaski and White counties. The food pantry will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every other Wednesday, including April 7. The Veterans Villages of America Program is designed to also help with unemployment, health care and housing for veterans and service members. BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville Community Education will present a Heartsaver CPR AED course from 5-9 p.m. April 15. The course trains participants to give CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe and effective manner. The class fee is $69. Book Signing
SEARCY — The family of Clifton L. Ganus Jr. has released “I’d Do It All Again,” a memoir written by the former president and chancellor of Harding University. Books will be available for purchase at a Ganus family book signing that will take place from 1-3 p.m. April 17 in Harding’s Cone Chapel. All proceeds from the sale of the book, after expenses, will go to the Clifton L. and Louise Ganus Endowed Scholarship Fund. American Legion Golf Tournament
CABOT — American Legion Post 71 will host its seventh annual Central Arkansas American Legion Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. April 26 at the Rolling Hills Country Club, 271 Randy Beaver Drive, to benefit the post’s Children & Youth, Veterans and Local Community Programs. The entry fee is $75 per player or $300 per team, with a meal provided after play, and the hole-in-one prize is a new 2021 Ford vehicle. Donations of merchandise, memorabilia, cash and hole sponsorships are needed. All donations are taxdeductible. Early registration for the four-person scramble runs through April 23.
