North Little Rock, Ark., age 94, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2021, he was born February 7, 1927, the son of the late Buford C. McCord and Jessye Lee Terrell in Conway, Ark. Bill served as a Sunday school teacher for many years at Trinity United Methodist Church, in the Friendly Asbury Sunday school class in North Little Rock. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired as a Captain with the North Little Rock Police Department and as Chief Investigat­or with the prosecutin­g attorney’s office. He was a member of the North Little Rock Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Moose Lodge. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his many friends. Bill also enjoyed spending Thursday mornings at a prayer breakfast with Brother Paul and many friends at the Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene of North Little Rock. He was a man who loved his God, his family, his country and his many friends.

Bill was married to his wonderful companion, Martha Jean Harrison McCord, for 57 years until her death in January 2004. He was also predecease­d by his daughter, Diana Simpson.

He is survived by his son, Bill C. McCord Jr. of Russellvil­le, Ark., and daughter, Barbara Jean Bennett, and her husband, Dr. Steve Bennett, of North Little Rock; and a host of grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren who were a great part of his life.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday April 6, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, where funeral services will be Wednesday 11 a.m. Burial with police and military Honors will follow in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
