GREENVILLE, Texas — CJ Cathey, Jr.,

91 of Greenville, Texas passed away on December 22, 2020. He was born on October 23, 1929 to CJ Sr. and Iva Tempest (White) Cathey in Little Rock, Ark. CJ lived life to the fullest. A veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, he studied Electrical Engineerin­g after receiving an honorable discharge. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineerin­g from the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le in three years while working two full-time jobs to support his young family. He later earned his Master’s degree in Engineerin­g from Southern Methodist University. He went on to work as a Director of Engineerin­g for Aerospatia­le Helicopter for many years. Later, he worked for E-Systems in Greenville, Texas until his retirement. CJ loved the Lord and was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed playing tennis, watching football, competing in local bowling leagues, and spending time working in his yard. He was a long-time member of the Elks Club in Greenville. Most of all, CJ was a family man and loved and cherished time spent with them. CJ is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jincy Jones, whom he married on May 23, 1992; children, Rebecca Cathey (Dan Parks), Deborah Cathey (Kevin Stone), Karen Cathey (Steve Helfert), Tamala Cathey, Michael Cathey, Lara Cathey Dunson, and stepdaught­er, Kim Collier (Tim); 15 grandchild­ren; 19 great-grandchild­ren; and a host of loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Markus Cathey, and brother, William Cathey. CJ will be interred at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock, Ark., April 16, 2021 at 1 p.m.
