JOHNSON, a member of The Greatest Generation, died at her home in Little Rock on April 16, at the age of 92. She was born August 30, 1928, at home at 2423 Woodrow Street, Little Rock. She is predecease­d by her husband, who died July 18, 2017; parents, Gayle Thompson Bickle and Arthur Washington Bickle; her sister, Jannis Ball, of Bryant; her two brothers: Arthur Joy Bickle, of Bryant, and James Carl Bickle, of Booneville; and a half-brother, Joe Ray Bickle, of Alamogordo, N.M. Frances graduated from Little Rock High School, class of ‘46. She married William Thomas Johnson on March 22, 1947. Frances and William were married 70 years, 3 months, and 28 days at the time of his death. Three children: Georgia Gail Griffis (John), Sandra Joy Lind, and Glen William Johnson, survive her. Other survivors are grandchild­ren, Kelly Leighann Griffis Jordan, Joey Reeves Griffis (Bethany), Christi Lynn Griffis; and great-grandchild­ren, Sebastian Quinn Jordan, and Skylar Ann Marie Griffis. Frances was a member of the Central Arkansas Church of Christ and the Martindale Extension Homemakers’ Club. In earlier years, Frances worked at Blass Department Store for over ten years in many capacities. She also worked at Westinghou­se Lighting. Later, Frances and her husband founded and owned Rebel Rebuilders, Inc., an automotive machine shop, where she worked as bookkeeper, parts chaser, valve grinder and took care of whatever needed doing. After retirement, she began working as legal transcript­ionist working up into her 90’s “to stay young and connected.” Her longevity can be attributed to good genes, her positive attitude, along with the motto she lived by: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” The body will be cremated. No funeral is planned. There will be a celebratio­n of her life on April 20, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander. Casual dress.
