MARTHA “MICKI” MICKLISH

MEADOR passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021, in Little Rock, Ark., at the age of 89. Micki was known as an active community volunteer in Jonesboro, Mountain Home, and Little Rock, Ark. She was always active in the Methodist Church, serving on several committees. She served as a docent at the Arkansas Arts Center, a driver for a patient appointmen­t service, and as a volunteer with Court Appointed Special Advocate programs. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher, and was on the Jonesboro school board for two terms. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmothe­r, and friend.

She was born to the late Fred Herman and Clifford Signora Micklish in Jonesboro, Ark., where she graduated from Jonesboro High School. After both her daughters entered elementary school, Micki returned to college at Arkansas State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. In 1951, she married W H “Buddy” Meador. Micki and Buddy loved each other dearly. Micki was wearing her wedding ring at the time of her death. They eventually retired to Mountain Home, Ark., where they resided until Buddy passed away in 1996. Micki then moved to Little Rock, Ark., to be near her daughters and grandchild­ren.

Micki loved gardening, singing, cooking, traveling with her family, participat­ing in church activities, and spending time on Lake Norfork. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchild­ren. Micki spent hours attending and chauffeuri­ng the grandkids to various activities. Micki’s home was always open to her friends and family, as well as to her children’s and grandchild­ren’s friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters and their husbands, Ramona and Bob Lawrence; Lois and Edward Clarke.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Meador and husband Stephen Giles; their children, Anna Giles and Richmond Giles; her daughter Diane Meador and her husband Mark Barnhard, all of Little Rock. There are numerous surviving nieces and nephews who will miss their Aunt Micki, one brother-in-law, Frank Meador and his wife Wanda; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Troxler.

There will be a memorial service on April 24, 2021, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist church in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Arkansas Repertory Theatre (therep.org) or Arkansas Food Bank Backpacks for Kids 501-565-8121.
