BRYANT — Evans M. Caple,

86 of Bryant, passed away on April 18, 2021. She was born on November 21, 1934, in Bryant, Ark., to the late John and Dona Thomas Hodge. Evans was a 1952 graduate of Bryant High School and attended Ouachita Baptist College. She was married to Raymon Caple in 1954.

Evans was very active in the Bryant Community. She was the pianist for the Missionary Baptist Church at age 16 and sung with a gospel quartet. She taught piano to many students throughout the years. Evans was secretary for Bryant United Methodist Church for many years and the first female president of the Bryant Chamber of Commerce.

She was the owner of Flowers by Evans in Bryant for over 25 years before her retirement; was in the first class of AFA Master Florist and past president of the Arkansas Florist Associatio­n.

Evans volunteere­d in many areas of the community including the Boys and Girls Club of Bryant, Senior Adult Center and Bryant Chamber of Commerce; The Girl Scouts of American, Civitan Center, Bryant Fest and CJCOHN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Raymon Caple. She was the last of eight siblings.

Evans leaves to cherish her memory: son, Ray Caple of Bryant; daughters, Susan (Ken) Gardner of Fayettevil­le, Sheryl (Bobby Dollarhide) Edwards of Bryant, and Stefanie (Don) Campbell of Bryant; grandchild­ren, Michael Zacery Edwards, Nathaniel Caple, Katelynn Caple, Laura (Andrew Micciche) Gardner and Jonevan Campbell; great-grandchild, Kiley Edwards and her mother, Jennie; a host of many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and her much loved “almost daughter,” Cissy Dodd.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24th, at 2 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home with Bro. Jeffery Hulsizer officiatin­g. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. before services.
