of North Little Rock, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on April 25, 2021. She was born Eleanor Carol Johnson on February 4, 1934, in Van Buren, Arkansas, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, John R Pursell. They were married 67 years before John’s passing on February 24, 2020. After relocating to Little Rock, Carol enjoyed raising six children and took great pride in her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mama, and sister. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family and hearing the laughter associated with the very special bond and closeness that her children shared.

Carol is survived by five dearly loved children: John, Kent (Margaret), Gary (Cathy), Denise (Fletcher), and Bruce (Sallie); nineteen grandchild­ren: Brooks, Leah (Bryce) Carlson, Shannon (Charlie) Baty, Christy (Michael) Lenzini, Wesley, Hanna (Sam) Arnim, Sarah Catherine Cook, Tara (Travis) May, Taylor B. (Taylor M.) Bowers, Brandon (Sheri), Matt, and Ashley; thirteen great-grandchild­ren: Caleb, Gabbie, Parker, Preston, Callum, Brayson, Gabrielle, Abby, Ethan, Eden, Emmie, William, Ezra; and sister, Thelma Jo Caughlin. Preceding her in death were her husband, John; daughter, Cindi Pursell Kendrick; parents, Marshall and Agnes Johnson; and brothers, Bob, Richard, and Darrell.

A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2021. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Rest Hills. Online guestbook: www.SmithFamil­yCares.com
