Arkansas Children’s
Caring for children through unprecedented times
Nurses are at the heart of the mission of Arkansas Children’s, the state’s only pediatric health system. Now more than ever, nurses are a critical part of every child’s care team and at the core of the system’s ability to provide safe, compassionate clinical care. The system’s more than 1,400 nurses stood ready on the front lines 24/7 to care for children through unprecedented times; they innovated and accelerated their commitment to health care. At Arkansas Children’s, nurses can pursue opportunities in primary care, specialty care, telehealth, mobile-health efforts and more. They influence children’s health beyond the physical walls of our hospitals and clinics by teaching, training and advising caregivers in communities across the state. Now more than ever, nurses at Arkansas Children’s make a tremendous impact every day where children live, learn and play.
Arkansas Children’s is the only health care system in the state solely dedicated to caring for Arkansas’ more than 700,000 children. The private, nonprofit organization includes two pediatric hospitals, a pediatric research institute and U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition center, a philanthropic foundation, a nursery alliance, statewide clinics, and many education and outreach programs — all focused on fulfilling a promise to define and deliver unprecedented child health. ACH operates the state’s only Level I pediatric trauma center, burn center, Level IV neonatal intensivecare unit, pediatric intensive-care unit, pediatric surgery program with Level 1 verification from the American College of Surgeons, magnetoencephalography system for neurosurgical planning and cutting-edge research, and nationally recognized pediatric transport program. U.S. News & World Report nationally ranked ACH in four pediatric subspecialties (2020-2021): cardiology and heart surgery, nephrology, urology and pulmonology. Additionally, ACH is one of only five hospitals in the nation to achieve Magnet Status, American College of Surgeons Level 1 verification and a Beacon Award from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Arkansas Children’s Northwest, the first and only pediatric hospital in the Northwest Arkansas region, operates a surgical unit with five operating rooms, outpatient clinics offering over 20 subspecialties, diagnostic services, imaging capabilities, a pediatric emergency department and occupational therapy.
