MSgt. CHARLES A. HAGERMAN of Sherwood passed away May 9, 2021,

peacefully at home with his wife and family surroundin­g him, and he is now with his Savior. He was born to Bertha and Henry Hagerman October 29, 1932, in Keo, Ark.

He and Betty were blessed with three sons and a daughter: Cliff (Martha), Phil (Michelle), Scott (Matt), Shannon Hensley (Don); godson, Robbie Perry; and 10 grandchild­ren; 21 great-grandchild­ren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Charlie was an awesome dad, grandad, great-grandad, and recently became a great-greatgrand­ad. He loved his family with all his heart and absolutely adored all his “grands”. He was a very proud and active fan at all their sporting and music events. Charlie helped build cabins on Ouachita Lake and for 50 years. His family enjoyed countless days and weeks doing water activities.

He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1950, celebrated his 18th birthday on the ship going to the Korean War. He served four years in the Air Force, came home, married Betty Wyatt, and worked for the Air National Guard as a technician for 39 years. His most prestigiou­s award was the H. Lynn Wassell Leadership award presented to him in 2007. In the Arkansas Enlisted Associatio­n he served in many positions, including President. Also, he was an active member of EANGUS (Enlisted Associatio­n National Guard United states). Until his retirement in 1960 he was given many awards and accolades.

His community involvemen­t was legendary. He umpired at the Sherwood Optimist ballpark for 19 years, creating memories for dozens of players and fans. He and Betty worked at the Sherwood Fourth of July events for years, and volunteere­d maintainin­g parks in their area. They were named 2017 Sherwood Volunteers of the year. Charlie was a member of the Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754 for 55 years.

Charles was predecease­d by his parents and his brothers Herman (Shorty) and Earnest.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the Baptist Health Hospice and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
