■ Just hours after leaving office, scandal-tainted former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo suffered another defeat Tuesday when the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said it was taking back the special Emmy Award he received last year for his daily, televised briefings on the coronavirus pandemic. The academy said in a statement that given Cuomo’s resignation over a torrent of sexual-harassment allegations, it was rescinding the prize and removing any reference to him in its official materials. A message seeking comment was left with Cuomo’s lawyer. Cuomo, 63, left office just before midnight Monday, two weeks after he announced he would resign rather than face an impeachment battle that seemed inevitable after a report by independent investigators concluded he had sexually harassed 11 women. The report marked a stunning downfall for Cuomo, whose leadership during the covid-19 crisis drew widespread praise and accolades, including from the television academy. The academy, whose members include media and entertainment figures from more than 60 countries and 500 companies, presented its Founders Award to Cuomo during a livestreamed ceremony in November. Cuomo used his more than 100 Powerpoint-driven slideshows and his sometimes emotional, sometimes acerbic style to provide daily updates and detail his administration’s efforts to guide the state through the pandemic, which has killed more than 53,600 New York state residents thus far.

■ After taking a four-month leave of absence, Carrie Ann Inaba will not return as co-host of “The Talk.” The longtime “Dancing With the Stars” judge announced her exit from the CBS daytime program on Instagram, confirming last week that she and the network “have mutually agreed to part ways.” “I’m filled with gratitude for the experience and for this chapter of my life,” Inaba, 53, said Friday in a series of videos posted online. “I have made lifelong friendships. I’ve had incredible experiences [and] wonderful discussions that helped me evolve as a human being. And it’s been an honor to be a part of your lives and to have a voice.” In April, Inaba took a break from “The Talk” in order to focus on her health. The dancer and choreographer, who recovered from covid-19 in December, previously revealed on the air that she suffers from various autoimmune conditions, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and Sjogren’s syndrome. In the comments section of Inaba’s post, former “Talk” panelists Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen Moonves — as well as current co-host Amanda Kloots — showered the TV personality with praise and wished her well in her future endeavors. “Thank you for being such a bright light always. I loved working with you and learning from you !!!!! ” wrote fitness instructor Kloots, who joined “The Talk” in December.
