PLAYERS TO WATCH this season in Class 6A.

-

S Trent Bennett, Little Rock Parkview, senior

Bennett is a three-star recruit and the No. 18 prospect in the state, according to 247Sports, with the physicality to play both safety and linebacker. He is just one of many talented pieces on a defense that allowed 11 points per game last season. Bennett racked up 71 tackles, 7 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and a blocked kick.

CB Colin Daggett, Greenwood, senior

As a junior, Daggett helped the Bulldogs complete an undefeated 14-0 season while capturing a 10th state title — moving Greenwood into sole possession of the fourth most among all Arkansas high schools. Daggett is a three-year starter at cornerback who logged 72 tackles, 7 pass breakups, 1 interception and a fumble recovery.

RB Owen Miller, Lake Hamilton, senior

Part of the Wolves’ Wing-T attack, Miller rushed for just under 2,000 yards last season and has logged more than 4,000 yards in his high school career. He’ll pair with Tevin Hughes and Kendrick Martin to dominate the ground for Lake Hamilton as it looks to better its 2020 state runner-up finish.

WR Kavon Pointer, Jonesboro, senior

Pointer was part of a Hurricane basketball team that won a Class 5A basketball championship last season, but he’s going to be critical on the football field this fall. Jonesboro has a new quarterback in Rykar Acebo, and Pointer will have to be one of his top targets after grabbing 35 balls for 564 yards and 8 touchdowns a year ago.

QB Sharmon Rester, El Dorado, senior

After transitioning from wideout to quarterback in the latter half of 2020, Rester appears poised for a breakout season as a dual-threat option under center. He completed better than half of his 75 attempts for the Wildcats, and also averaged 6.2 yards per carry with 7 touchdowns on the ground as a junior.
