Mark Anderson Shelton, III, age 79, of Hot Springs, passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 22, 2021.

Born in Pine Bluff, Ark., Mark spent his life as a planter and ginner at Altheimer and Wabbaseka. In addition to farming, he enjoyed a career in banking serving on the board of directors at Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff and serving two terms as a Director at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

Mark was civically active, serving on the Quorum Court of Jefferson County and supporting his alma mater, Ouachita Baptist University. He was also a charter member of Garvan Woodland Gardens.

Mark was best known for his larger-than-life personalit­y, his ability to make people laugh, and for his fried fish.

Mark was predecease­d by his beloved grandsons, Mark West and Daniel West; and his parents Mark and Ethel Shelton of Wabbaseka.

He is survived by his daughters, Kim Shelton Sachs (Charlie) of Savannah, Ga., and Kitsy Shelton Haiman of Dallas, Texas; as well as his grandchild­ren, Drew and Kate Haiman, also of Dallas.

Because of COVID, the family will hold a private memorial to honor his life.
