Captain LARRY DARNELL LOWE
of the Little Rock Fire Department passed away on August 26, 2021. Captain Lowe was born in Wilmot, Ark., in 1950 to Harry Lowe and Susie Griffin Lowe. In 1959, he moved with his family to Little Rock, Ark., and was enrolled in the Little Rock School District. He was a 1969 graduate of Horace Mann High School where he honed his talents in the sport of basketball under the watchful eye of Coach Oliver Elders. Larry received a four-year scholarship to Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., where he was fondly called “Popcorn” for his prowess on the basketball court. Larry graduated from Hendrix with a Bachelor’s Degree.
After graduation, Larry worked several jobs eventually being hired by the Little Rock Fire Department March 15, 1980 . In 2002 Larry Lowe became Captain Larry Lowe. He loved his work and his fellow firemen, as well as their families. Larry retired from the fire department on July 2011 and began several new adventures.
During his life’s journey Larry received salvation and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins and received the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). Several years later he acknowledged a call to the ministry and ran for the Lord spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ until his passing. He especially loved encouraging young men and women to make better choices and decisions.
One of his greatest joys was serving as a Sergeant Of Arms in the Arkansas Senate whenever the Arkansas Legislature was in session. He regularly prayed for the elected officials, governor and staff for God’s guidance in right governance. He felt they had a tough job to do and if anybody could help straighten things out it was God that would help them.
Elder Larry Lowe was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents; father, Harry Lowe; mother, Susie Lowe Griffin; brother, William Stringer; sister, Algeria Lowe; and his dearly beloved son, Marcus Darnell Lowe, whom he cherished all of his days.
He leaves to mourn his passing three children that he welcomed into his heart with a father’s love: Anthony Foreman (Charletta) Cedar Hill, Texas; Peidro Foreman (Monique), Red Oak, Texas; Shuniece Stubblefield (Greg) of Little Rock, Ark.; five brothers, Harold Lowe of Hayward, Calif.; Jerold Lowe, Ronald Lowe, Kenyon Lowe, and Carl Lowe, all of Little Rock, Ark.; three sisters, Helen Lowe Brown of Dallas, Ga., Janeth Lowe-Smith (Charles) and Edith Lowe-Jones (Earnest), both of Little Rock, Ark. Additionally, Larry leaves an innumerable number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all honor and hold dear his memory in their hearts.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Pinecrest. The family will gather at 10 a.m. at Ruffin & Jarrett to proceed to the services. Social distancing and masks are required without exception. Services Entrusted to Ruffin & Jarrett.
