EUREKA SPRINGS — Georgia Lee Greer Potz,
born Feb. 20, 1925, in Shreveport, La., to Ida Lee Hargrove and Neil Franklin Hargrove, passed away peacefully in her home in Eureka Springs, Ark., on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at the age of 96.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister; brother; and husbands, Silas E. Greer and Henry G. Potz.
She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Miller (Ben) of Mayflower, Ark., and Doris Reeder (John) of Eureka Springs, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren- and four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Modie Hargrove of Palestine, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Georgia was raised in Louisiana and later relocated to Arkansas, where she spent most of her adult life. She worked and retired from the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock. Georgia was a member of Winfield Methodist Church for many years. She loved to garden, cross-stich, quilt, dance, listen to music, and spend time with her family.
Georgia’s greatest, most unforgettable roles in life were ‘Mama’ and ‘Nanny’. The love she had for her daughters and grandchildren shined brighter than any star in the sky. Her laughter was contagious, her hugs were unmistakable, and the love and comfort she provided to each of us was more than magical. She was truly one of a kind.
Her time with us was precious and will never be forgotten. No words could ever describe how much she will be missed.
Graveside service will be held in Shreveport, La., at Forest Park Cemetery on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate Georgia’s life will be held for family and friends in Little Rock, Ark., at a later date.
