BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Gloria Ash Minor,

age 93, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a resident at Towne Village and later Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham, since 2015. Gloria was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on July 30, 1928, where she lived all her life prior to her move to Birmingham. She was a very intelligent, thoughtful and strong woman. She graduated from Little Rock (Central) High School in 1945. She attended Rhodes College in Memphis, and graduated with a BS in Biology from Little Rock University (UALR). She obtained her Masters in Education from the University of Arkansas. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

Her life’s work took place at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Little Rock. She was the Education Coordinator of the School of Medical Technology, where she touched the lives of a large number of students over her 37 year career. She maintained longstanding friendships with many of her students and colleagues until the time of her passing.

She was a longtime, 50+ years, member of Oak Forrest Methodist Church in Little Rock, and later a regular attender at The Church at Liberty Park in Birmingham.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, James W. Minor. Also predeceasing her were her parents, Inez and Ozey Ash of Little Rock. She is survived by her niece, Nancy Minor Wright and her husband, David and great-nephew, John Wright all of Birmingham, Alabama. Gloria is also survived by her longtime special, faithful friends in Little Rock, Peggy and John Ward; Norma James, Jean Smith; Byrdie McSwain and Gene Farish, all in the Little Rock area. She also leaves many other good friends in Birmingham and Little Rock.

Ever the planner, it was Gloria’s instruction that there be no funeral service, and that any memorials be sent either to Oak Forrest Methodist Church in Little Rock or The Church at Liberty Park in Birmingham.
