BEEBE — Geraldine Russell,

passed away on September 2, at the age of 98.

She was born April 2, 1923, at Olmstead, Arkansas, to Ray and Mary Emma Morrison. Being the wife of a dairyman, she contributed many hours helping on the farm, but she also worked at Sperry Vickers in Searcy, for 23 years.

Geraldine was married to Willard Russell for 58 years, until his death in 2000. She and Willard became a part of Gideon International in 1978, and she served with the Gideon Women’s Auxiliary, describing those years as some of the best and most inspirational years of her life. She and Willard rarely missed a Gideon convention, both state and international. Geraldine also loved cruises, and was able to go on eight during her lifetime. She was a member of Ward United Methodist Church since May 1942. She acquired the nickname “Jubie” at a very early age, and was affectionately called that by family and close friends. Along with lots of love and laughter, gatherings at her home included plenty of food, and always her famous Karo nut pies and chocolate sheet cake.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by sister, Opal Beall, brothers, Doyle “Rod” Morrison and Tom “Buddy” Morrison, and great-grandson, Blake Bourgeois. Survivors include sons, Jerry (Shelly) Russell of Ward; Gary Russell of Trumann; grandchildren, Steven, Timothy, Shane, and Alan Russell; granddaughters, Kim Russell and Melissa Bourgeois; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Madeleine, Rebecca, Brandon, Cameron, and Miles; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks go out to Jubie’s wonderful caregivers: Lena, Hannah, Sandy, and Paula.

Memorials may be made to Gideon International, P.O. Box 212, Cabot, Ark., 72023. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7, from 1–2 p.m., prior to the funeral service which will begin at 2 p.m., at the Smith Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, Beebe. Burial at 16th Section Cemetery.
