TODAY ATU Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Virtual Concerts
RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech University will present live virtual concerts today, collectively titled Emblems. The ATU Symphonic Band, under the direction of Jon Nash, will perform at 2:30 p.m. and include pieces by David Biedenbender, John Mackey, Michael Markowski and Julius Fucik. The ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Daniel A. Belongia, will perform at 3:15 p.m. and cover compositions by Julie Giroux and Kevin Day, as well as David Maslanka’s “Hosannas.” As a result of COVID-19 precautions, in-person attendance at the venue will be limited to invited guests of the performers. ONGOING Arkansas Arts Organization Grants
LITTLE ROCK — The application period is open for the Arkansas Arts Council American Rescue Plan Grant to aid 501(c)(3) arts groups based in Arkansas that have experienced financial hardships or loss of program capacity because of lost revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible arts organizations may request up to $15,000. This is a one-timeonly grant category and may not be extended or renewed. To apply for the ARP grant, visit bit.ly/2XnbWU4. Going to the Dogs Exhibit
CLINTON — The North Central Arkansas Artist League’s new exhibit, Going to the Dogs, will be open to the public at Ozark Health Medical Center, 2500 U.S. 65 S., until Nov. 8. The show will be in two hallway locations: upstairs near the nursing-home entrance and downstairs in the outpatient wing. The artworks are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Hospital Auxiliary projects. Some proceeds from sales of the artwork will also go to the Animal Protection League in Fairfield Bay.
Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines

Veterans Food Pantry
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Veterans Villages Helping Hand Program Food Pantry, 8325 MacArthur Drive, serves all veterans, as well as active-duty, Guard and Reserve service members and their families, in Faulkner and Perry counties. Food Pantry and Thrift Store MORRILTON — The Conway County Care Center’s food
pantry, at 108 W. Broadway, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents of Conway County may visit the pantry once a month to take home free supplemental food, regardless of household income. The center also operates a thrift store, where clothes and household items are available at a low cost, or free when there is an immediate need.

UPCOMING Beautification Appreciation Event
FAIRFIELD BAY — The We Love VBC Towne Center Beautification Appreciation Event will take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Towne Center. The free public event will show appreciation to the many volunteers and artists who have helped to make Fairfield Bay beautiful with their murals. All are invited to stop by to see these works of art and meet the people who helped make this project happen. After acknowledgments are presented, Bay Nutrition will host a reception with drinks and cupcakes.

Waggin’Tail Casino Night

Find Boo in the Bay Scavenger Hunt
FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, 365 Dave Creek Parkway, will offer the Find Boo in the Bay Scavenger Hunt from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 29. Teams of two to four will set out for the hunt promptly at 5:15 p.m., following brief instructions. When participants have completed the story and have visited all five locations, they will return to the chamber for a chili supper, complete with dessert and entertainment, from 6:30-8 p.m., with tunes by Sean Sikes. There will be prizes for all and a grand prize for the People’s Choice award for best costume. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and younger. United Way Turkey Trot
CONWAY — The United Way of Central Arkansas will host its seventh annual Turkey Trot 5K at 8:30 a.m and the Gobble Wobble Kids’ Mile, a 1-mile race open to children ages 10 and younger, at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving. The live race will take place at the Centennial Valley Country Club, 1600 Centennial Club Drive. A virtual option is also available. Early-bird registration is open online through RunSignup and can be accessed by clicking the Turkey Trot button on the United Way’s homepage at www.uwcark.org. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $20 for the Kids’ Mile through Nov. 5. Prices increase by $5 starting Nov. 6, and registration is available until the morning of the race.
