82, of Eden Isle, Ark., passed away on November 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Violet Scott Gentry and Jerry L. Gentry, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory: his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Bette Cranor Curtis Gentry; brother, Terry Scott Gentry; children, J. Curtis Gentry and Scott Cranor Gentry; daughters-in-law, Susanne H. Gentry and Kristee H. Gentry, grandchild­ren, Mary Elizabeth, Will, Grant, Josh, Jack, and Bo. He was a life-long resident of Marianna until 2011, when he retired to Eden Isle. Jack was born on 11/10/1939 in Searcy, Ark. He graduated from T.A. Futrall High School in 1957 and Henderson State College in 1961 with an accounting degree. He then married his wife, Bette, on 6/01/1961. He worked as an IRS agent in Helena, Ark. from 1961-1963, and as a CPA in public practice from 1963-2011 in Marianna, Ark. Jack served in the Arkansas National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, and the Marianna Volunteer Fire and Rescue (30 years). He also held the positions of Deacon of First Baptist Church, Justice of the Peace in Lee County (6 years), Lee County Treasurer (34 years), and Marianna Fire Chief (14 years). Jack also served on the Board of Directors of: Lee Memorial Hospital, Farmers & Merchants Bank, First National Bank, Arkansas Fire Training Academy, Arkansas Selective Service System, and Eden Isle Corporatio­n. Jack loved boating. He and Bette would take their cruiser “The Miss Bette” from their Tennessee River port down the Tom Bigby, to Mobile, Ala., and on to Florida each summer. He was also a private pilot. He flew his Cessna 172 with his son from Marianna to Fairbanks, Alaska. As the Managing Partner of Whiskey Island Land & Timber Co, LLC, he was a lifetime duck, deer, and turkey hunter.
