John H Talbot III

John H Talbot, III, 92, of Pine Bluff, passed away peacefully in his home November 23, 2021. He was born January 12, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to the late John H. Talbot and late Virginia Lee Talbot of Pine Bluff. He attended Pine Bluff High School and was in the class of 1947. He then attended the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le, where he was a charter member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineerin­g and was commission­ed as a Second Lieutenant in Infantry in the Regular Army in 1952. Mr. Talbot was airborne infantry and Ranger qualified. He deployed to the Korean War, where his honors included the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with V Device. After the war, he returned to Fort Benning, Georgia, to become a Ranger School Instructor. Upon resigning his Commission, he returned to Pine Bluff to open Business Service Corporatio­n in Pine Bluff, which he ran until he retired. John was an avid tennis player and fan, and loved his Razorbacks and the Cowboys. He also loved all dogs, but especially their beloved Scottish Terriers.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and member of Retired Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO).

John was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Armstong Talbot in 2010 and his son, John H. Talbot IV, in December 2020. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Brown of White Hall; his two sons, Thomas Talbot of Alexandria, Virginia, and Andrew Talbot. He has ten grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside services will be private at Bellwood Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 West 3rd Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71601, or American Heart Associaton, 909 West 2nd Street, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72201.
