68, of Maumelle, Ark., passed away November 15, 2021 at UAMS in Little Rock after a lengthy battle with complicati­ons due to diabetes. She was a successful kidney transplant recipient in 2004.

She was born August 30, 1953, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Russellvil­le, Ark., to Ramona Mitchell Apple and the late Robert E. Apple. Robin graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1971, and attended Arkansas Tech and UALR majoring in art.

Robin served as an inspector in Consumer Protection for three consecutiv­e attorney generals. She later worked with the Exhibit Department of The Old State House Museum in Little Rock.

She was an avid conservati­onist and devoted many years working as a volunteer for the Arkansas Wildlife Federation. She loved all God’s critters and was a licensed wildlife rehabilita­tor specializi­ng in song birds. She was deeply concerned about the destructio­n of natural habitat, deforestat­ion, melting polar ice caps, and global climate change.

Robin was an artist and enjoyed painting animals and landscapes, searching Arkansas streams to find rocks to paint and creating stone animals. She loved the outdoors and grooming her flower beds and lawn providing a sanctuary for the birds and animals that visited her yard.

Robin made holidays special events, especially Christmas. Robin and her mother always put up elaborate holiday decoration­s and Christmas gifts were adorned with ornate handmade decoration­s that were reused on many occasions. Opening gifts took hours and was enjoyed by all.

She was preceded in death by her grandparen­ts, Harrison and Sadie Clark Apple of Dardanelle, Ark.; Henry Y. and Callie Ethridge Mitchell of Louisville, Miss.; her father, Robert E. Apple of Dardanelle, Ark.; and many friends.

Robin is survived by her mother, Ramona Mitchell Apple; brother, Dr. Robert E. Apple, Jr. and wife Jayne; nephews, Robert P. Apple and wife Jessica, Brian M. Apple and wife Shelby; and great-nieces Maggie and Ellie Apple; and great-nephew, Austin Apple, all of Baton Rouge, La.

We would like to thank her many doctors and nurses at UAMS, her neighbors, and dear friends for their visits and calls over the years. We would also like to thank her final caregiver, Cristen Maczo. A very special thanks goes to a dear family friend, Jenna Austin, of Newport, Ark., who has been a tremendous help in coordinati­ng Robin’s care and being with Robin. Words cannot describe what a special extended family member she has become.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. Jim Benfer will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle. The Interment will be private at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation or American Humane Society.
