MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Anna Hope “Ann” Suter

-

died peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021. She lived her 98 years well and was loved and cherished.

Ann was born in Van Buren, Ark., on April 16, 1923.

She lived there until she met and married the love of her life, Edward Suter. After many exchanged love letters and a war-time romance, Ed asked the love of his life to be his one and only. He even planned the whole wedding himself - afraid she might get cold feet and change her mind! There was no chance of that though, and after settling down in Little Rock, Ark., they had a beautiful little girl named Barbara Ann the following year. They lived and loved 67 years together before his death on November 15, 2011.

She is also preceded in death by her mother and father, Biddle Mae and William Bennett Chambers.

Ann is survived by her sisters and brother: Walcie, Betty and Paul; daughter, Barbara (Robert) Welborn of Memphis, Tenn., and her grandchildren: Sheryl (Leslie) Downs, Mindy (Jody), Sherry (Ralph) Hall and Scott Welborn. She had seven great-grandchildren: (Rachel, Jordan, Noah, Caleb {Emily}, Isabella, Scott Jr. and Emma) and two great-great- grandchildren: Paula and Claire. There are many more cherished family members, nieces, nephew and long-time friends including Becky Brown and family.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Ann doted on the family’s beloved poodle, Beaucoup. She cooked chicken and rice for him for 18 years of his life. She loved greeting people at First Christian Church in Hot Springs, Ark., and touched so many lives with her infectious laugh - and you could always hear her coming around the corner! Ann was also an amazing baker (so good that we must confess, there were a few fights over the last angel biscuit). When she wasn’t baking, she was dreaming of her next adventure. She loved traveling to New Mexico, Hawaii and California to name a few.

Funeral services will be at Humphrey’s Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville, Ark., on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Price Cemetery in London, Ark., under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Internet obituary and online guestbook are available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
