McGEHEE — Douglas Lewis Holt,

-

60 of McGehee, Ark., died in his home surrounded by family on Friday, November 26, 2021, in McGehee. He was born in Dumas, Ark., on July 22, 1961. to Kenneth Clyde and Vashti Lewis Holt.

Lewis graduated from McGehee High School where he excelled in football, having the honor of being awarded “AllState.” He continued his football career in college while playing for Ouachita Baptist University. He graduated with an Ag Business degree from UAM. He later relocated to McGehee to help his father farm. For 26 years, he loved growing cotton. Then, his son, Bradley, joined him on the farm where they had many wonderful memories together.

In his off season, Lewis could be found duck hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed introducing his hobbies to his three grandsons. Anytime “Pop Pop” and his “three mules,” as he called them, were together, there was abundant wrestling, rough housing, and laughter in the house. His first granddaughter is expected to join the family in December, and he was so excited that his “baby girl” was having a baby girl.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McGehee, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. During his last several years, the most important component of Lewis’s life was his relationship with his Lord and Savior. He developed a deep passion for sharing Christ with others. He was always looking for opportunities to share about the love of Jesus Christ. He loved ministering and witnessing by helping anyone in need. He knew the change God had created in his life, and he wanted everyone to experience the love, grace, and power of God like he had. After hearing of his cancerous diagnosis, Lewis was excited about the thought that he would be meeting his Jesus soon.
