FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Mary Emily (Bridenthal) Clark,

84, of Fort Wayne, Ind., wife of Marion Lewis Clark, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She was born August 28, 1937, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., the eldest daughter of Carl and Hazel Bridenthal.

Mary is survived by her husband, Marion Clark; their four children, Michael (Shari) Clark of Jacksonvil­le, Fla., Melissa (Thom Albright) Stout of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Robert (Lynn) Clark of Spring Hill, Tenn., and James (Becky) Clark of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are six grandchild­ren, Kyle Clark, Brittany (Harrison) Stubbs, Alexa Clark, Trisha Clark, Hannah Clark and Emma Clark. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Sara Sanders of St. Louis, Mo. and Robbie Riley of Little Rock, Ark. After graduating from North Little Rock High School, North Little Rock, ARk., in 1955, she married Marion Clark on September 24, 1955, and they had four children. She was active in all school, church and community activities. After her youngest child entered school, she went back to college and received a BS in History from the University of Central Arkansas. She then received a Masters Degree in American History from the University of Memphis, as well as completing all course work except her dissertati­on to obtain her PhD in History from the same University.

She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Martha Circle of the same church, a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter CP, Angola Garden Club, Angola Historical Society, United Daughters of the Confederac­y in Prairie Grove, Ark. and was a member of the Pokagon Chapter of DAR in Angola, Ind. In addition, she was an avid reader, belonging to the Angola Book Review Club, was a lover of nature, interested in gardening, especially herbs, worked on her family genealogy, and kept up with local and national politics. She dearly loved her husband, all of her children and grandchild­ren.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Rd., Fort Wayne (Ind. 46804) with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior. Additional visiting time will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
