HOT SPRINGS — Doris Jean (Dot) Rushing Gilbert,

79, of Hot Springs, was called home to Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Dot was born on January 23, 1942, in Hot Springs, and was the daughter of James Henry Rushing and Ruby Lowder Rushing. She was a talented student at Hot Springs High School, participat­ing in the Troubadour Chorus and also as a member of the T-Steppers. She graduated with the HSHS Class of 1960, many with whom she still enjoyed meeting regularly. She was a faithful member of Hot Springs Baptist Church, where she loved the ladies of her Sunday School class. Dot was married to her loving husband, Harold Gilbert, making their home in McGehee, El Dorado, Little Rock, and Hot Springs during their 50 years of marriage. She worked in banking for many years and retired with Arkla Gas Company in April 2000, with 21 years of service. Dot had an infectious smile, a heart of generosity, and a sincere love for people. She admired the beauty of God’s creation, honored our US Military and Veterans, supported her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, and faithfully Backed The Blue. She also had a special love of animals, especially dogs that needed a caring home. She especially adored her three ‘fur babies’: Dixie, Yahtzee, and Radar.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Gilbert; and two sons: Rick Briscoe and wife Barbi of Carrollton, Texas, Rod Briscoe and husband Tim Dunn of Carteret, N.J.; along with two stepsons: Mike Gilbert and Eric Gilbert; her loving sister, Yvonne Stout, of Hot Springs; and dear niece, Staci Stout Caldwell and husband Dale of Washington, DC.; two grandchild­ren: Bethany Briscoe Toney and husband Tyler of Prosper, Texas, Brandon Briscoe and wife, Karis of Lewisville, Texas. She leaves a loving life legacy to seven adored great-grandchild­ren: Riley Joy Briscoe, Barrett Nathan Toney, Grace Elizabeth Briscoe, Colton James Toney, Richard Beau Briscoe, Rhett Silas Toney & Caleb Crosby Briscoe; many cousins, and long-time friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Rushing Brown and James Henry Rushing; a dear niece, Shelly Stout Pharis; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Celebratio­n of Life Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, at Hot Springs Baptist, with a family visitation at 9 am. Reverend Mike Smith and Reverend Clarence Shell, Jr. will officiate.

Interment will be at Morning Star Cemetery. Pallbearer­s: Brandon Briscoe, Steve Lookadoo, Mark Allen, Jim Lucas & Danny Watts.
