74, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021. Connie was born on January 6, 1947, in Lewellen, Nebraska, to Carl and Margaret Callen. Connie attended Ogallala public schools where she went on to graduate high school in 1965. After graduation from high school, Connie pursued a degree in secondary education at the University of Nebraska. Connie graduated from University of Nebraska in 1969, and then relocated to Santa Maria, California, where she taught school and met and married Dr. Harry Starnes on August 22, 1975. They settled in Clinton, Arkansas, in 1993 where she worked as an office manager for her husband’s practice until her retirement.

Connie was known by many as a fun, thoughtful and compassion­ate friend and will be remembered as a blessing to the local community. She loved to play cards and was a longtime member of the Idle Hour Bridge Club. She was a member of the Iris Garden Club, an active member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and participat­ed in various volunteer projects including the Ozark Health Services Foundation annual Gala committee as well as the United Methodist Thrift Shop. Connie loved to organize, plan, and execute wonderful social events that provided many great memories. She had an ability to make her family and friends feel special at all times. She loved to cook, share in fellowship with family and friends, and was at her happiest when was with her children and grandchild­ren. When enduring hard losses or times of sorrow, she would always remind us that even though someone may have gone away from our homes, they will never leave our hearts. Connie will always be a part of our hearts and we will miss her forever.

Connie is survived by her children, Jennie (Alan), Michael, Ben (Katy) and Sarah (Chris) and by her grandchild­ren, Heather, Harrison, Alex, Brooks, Charlotte, and Will. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn and Charles (Vickey) and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry, her granddaugh­ter, Bryn Margaret Baguley and her parents, Carl and Margaret.

A visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Monday December 20, from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service and celebratio­n of her life will be held St. James United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of RuebelFune­ralHome.com
