Fred Oscar Pearce, 97, of Little Rock, formerly of White Hall, was an avid outdoorsma­n who loved hunting, fishing, his church, his family and his garden.

He went to be with his Lord Saturday, December 18, 2021.

He was born March 21, 1924 in Hunter, Ark., son of Joe B. and Alice Holzhauer Pearce. Mr. Pearce was reared and educated in White Hall. He served in the United States Navy reserves during World War II. Mr. Pearce loved to work with his hands. He worked on power equipment, cut and hauled pulp wood, worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for a short time and worked in the Chlorine Plant at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 20 years. He gave himself to Christ at the age of 44. Mr. Pearce was an active member of the Pentecosta­l Church, from when it was Dew Drop Pentecosta­l to Peace Tabernacle to the current White Hall United Pentecosta­l Church. He served as a board member and later honorary board member of the church for many years.

Along with his parents, Mr. Pearce was preceded in death by his wife, Verda Mae Elkins Pearce, whom he married February 17, 1942; four sons, Fred David Pearce Sr., Homer Franklin Pearce, Lloyd Allen Pearce, and Oscar Eugene Pearce; daughter, Elizabeth C. Barbaree; brothers, Lemuel Eugene Pearce, Jim Pearce, Joe Pearce Jr.; his sisters, Clara Bell Elkins and Margaret Daniels; and infant granddaugh­ter, Theresa Pearce.

Survivors include his sister, Mildred McGarity of Sheridan; grandchild­ren, Oscar Pearce, Jr., Tony Kelly, Wendell Pearce, William Pearce, Fred David Pearce, Jr., Sandy Truman, Kimberly Pearce, Albert Barbaree, Jr., Roxanna Smarjesse, Johnny Pearce and Jolene Pearce; numerous great-grandchild­ren including one of his caretakers, Sharonda Long; numerous great-great-grandchild­ren; and his beloved dog, Little Man.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at White Hall United Pentecosta­l Church with Brother Chris Dixon officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at White Hall United Pentecosta­l Church.
