NORMA LEE TACKETT BISHOP,

82, of Little Rock, passed peacefully Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. The daughter of Lewis H. Tackett and Violet (Morgan) Bullock, she was born January 4, 1939, in Dardanelle. She received her education and training as an x-ray technician from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (Fort Smith CC). She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school class and singing in the choir. Norma was also a member of the Cattleman’s Association, Little Rock Duplicate Bridge Club, Hurricane Golf and Country Club, and Arkansas Farm Bureau. Her family received the prestigious Farm Family of the Year award for raising cattle at Hurricane Creek Beef Masters on what is now Bishop Park in Saline County. She was a master bridge player and an avid golfer with three Eagles credited to her handicap.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Bishop; her parents, Lewis Tackett and Idus and Violet Bullock; brother, Paul Edward Tackett; sister, Brenda Wallis; sister, Glenda Tackett; first husband, Woodrow “Woody” Jones; son, Rick Bishop; and daughter, Julie Bishop. Survivors include her brother, Jack Wallis, son, Greg Jones (Elizabeth) of Little Rock; son, Doug Bishop (Carol); son, Ted Bishop (Becky); daughter, Kathy Bishop; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She loved them all. Norma was an example and a mentor for many working women in Arkansas. She was an early advocate for women’s worth in both the workplace and community.

Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Dardanelle Church of Christ. Mark Auten will officiate.
