Mrs. Ida Mae Woods-Meadows was born October 4, 1935, to the late Claude and Mattie Woods on a small farm in Northern Columbia County, Ark.

As a young child, she gave her life to Christ at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas. She is a graduate of the former McNeil High School and upon completion of High School, she enrolled in and attended AM&N College in 1955. After a year of matriculat­ion, she pursued a career in the dietary profession. She married the love of her life, Lee Virgil Meadows, on August 29, 1956. Together they raised three children and settled in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where Ida worked for Townsend Park - Dollarway School District for the next 32 years. She was known for having a heart for children, but more so, she had a heart to feed every child she met. During her years with the school district, she rose to become the Nutrition Coordinato­r, where she was able to give many young people their first job opportunit­y, while educating them on the importance of nutrition and culinary delicacies. She joined Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, where she lived a long life of service. Throughout the years she served the church in several ways including becoming a member of the Senior Choir, Deaconess and Mother’s Board, and culinary support. Anyone who had the opportunit­y to spend time with Ida Mae Woods-Meadows understood she was well known for her love for Christ, love for everyone, delicious food, attending church, and spending as much time as she could with her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Virgil Meadows; friend and sister-in-law, Eddie Mae Bivens; and cherished brothers; Levell Woods, Ruben Woods, Carl Woods, Claudell Woods, and Norman Woods.

Ida is survived by her children, Lee Edward (Vernice) Meadows, Sharon Anette (Linnie) Meadows-Wear of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and Gregory Allen (Nita) Meadows of Daphne, Ala.; two sisters; Ethel Jackson and Claudine (Eddie) Forte-Johnson; one sister-in-law, Paula Woods; one brother-in-law, Cardell (Patricia) Meadows, Sr.; and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, cousins, the adopted Patillo Family, and an entire host of church and community families.
