Master Sergeant United States Air Force (Ret.), age 82, of Cabot, Ark., died Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was born March 2, 1939, in Minden, La., to the late C.C. Ford and Christine Davidson Ford.

Phillip graduated from Minden High School in 1957. He played on two state championsh­ip football teams, one in 1954 and the second in 1956. While attending LSU, he played football for one year before head injuries made it no longer feasible. He joined the Air Force in 1958. His Air Force career spanned 20 years of dedicated service. Phillip was awarded the Airman’s Medal in 1963 for his heroic actions. He served a total of two years in Vietnam and three years overseas in support of Vietnam. He retired from Lockheed-Martin Co. as a senior engineer in 2002.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Mary O. Kornegay Ford; son, Kenneth Scott Ford and wife, Wanda of Cabot, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Kenneth Ford (Eden; children, Kallie and Emily), Blake Ford (Anna; children, Evangeline, and Thomas), Catherine Ford Sukup (Justin; children, Derick, Christine, Jackson, and Dawson) and Peter Ford (Sparrow); his brother, James L. Ford and wife. Linda of Virginia; two nephews, David and Andrew (Emily; children, Sophia, Alexandra, and Charlotte) and numerous cousins.
