90, of Jacksonvil­le, Ark., went to be with his beloved Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 4, 2021. He was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him as husband, father, and father-inlaw, brother, grandfathe­r, uncle, and friend. Carl was born in Jacksonvil­le on August 12, 1931, to Jesse Lee and Dollie Lee (Driskill) Peters of Jacksonvil­le. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his two sons, Jeffery Peters and Eric Peters.

Shortly after graduating from Jacksonvil­le High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. Following his armed service, he earned both his BS and MS in civil and agricultur­al engineerin­g from the University of Arkansas, Fayettevil­le. In 2009, he was inducted into the Academy of Biological and Agricultur­al Engineerin­g, University of Arkansas. His profession­al career spanned more than five decades during which he worked as a project and supervisor­y engineer, and as State Conservati­on Engineer for the Soil Conservati­on Service (USDA) before retiring from federal government service. He then worked for the Arkansas Department of Health as an engineer until he retired at age 80.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Patty Joyce (Adams) Peters of Jacksonvil­le; sister, Jean Conley of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sons, Greg (Teresa) Peters of Sherwood and Kurt (Angie) Peters of Benton; daughter, Lisa (Richard) Weaver of Greenbrier; grandchild­ren, Jessica Domers, Molly Peters-Stanley, Katherine (Tommy) Gheen, Nick (Heather) Peters, Lindsey (Andrew) Peters, Erin Peters, and Reagan Weaver; and numerous great-grandchild­ren. Carl was a Gideon, and a faithful member and deacon of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood. It is there that those who knew and loved him are invited to celebrate both his well-lived life and his glorious home going.

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2022, at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, 9008 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Arkansas, with Pastor Keith Brickell officiatin­g. Interment will follow 1 p.m., at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, in North Little Rock. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home, Jacksonvil­le. Arrangemen­ts by Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home, 501-982-2136.
