TUESDAY Small-Business Workshop and Lunch

NEWPORT — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center will host a free workshop and lunch from noon to 2 p.m. at the Newport Chamber of Commerce, 201 Hazel St. This in-person, informativ­e training session will provide tips and tools on how to start and grow a business. ONGOING Visions Exhibition

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council is offering Visions, an exhibition by Eliseo Casiano, through March 5 at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St. Casiano serves as gallery manager for the Batesville Area Arts Council and teaches part time in the Fine Arts Program at Lyon College. He combines family history with symbolism in portraitur­e to interpret his cultural lineage. A free public reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, with a BAAC-members-only happy hour from 5-6 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public during BAAC’s regular gallery hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Extension Get Fit

SEARCY — The University of Arkansas Division of Agricultur­e Cooperativ­e Extension Service in White County is offering Extension Get Fit to help adults 18 and older increase their strength, flexibilit­y and balance. The one-hour classes, led by Katie Cullum, County Extension agent, and trained volunteers, will meet at 9 a.m. and at 4:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the White County Extension Center, 2400 Old Searcy Landing Road. Single Parent Scholarshi­p Extended Deadline

SEARCY — The deadline for applying for White County Single Parent Scholarshi­p Fund Inc. spring 2022 scholarshi­ps has been extended until Jan. 31. WCSPSF Inc. awards scholarshi­ps to White County single parents who have minor children and are pursuing postsecond­ary education in order to achieve skilled employment. Kiwanis Fundraiser

NEWPORT — The Newport Kiwanis Club is having its annual Boston butt sale. The cost is $40, and all proceeds will be used to help children in Newport and Jackson County. Clifton Taulbert Lecture

BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe 2021-2022 Lecture-Concert Series will welcome renowned author and entreprene­ur Clifton Taulbert for a lecture from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at ASUB’s Owen Center Theatre, 1102 W. College St. The first of Taulbert’s 13 books, “Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored,” became a national best seller, a major motion picture and a requested gift for Nelson Mandela. Annual Valentine’s Concert

SEARCY — Harding University Arts & Life will present its Annual Valentine’s Concert, soprano and guitar duo Rosa Incaica, with Andrew Cook on saxophone and the Harding University Jazz Band, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Harding Administra­tion Auditorium, 940 E. Park Ave. Rosa Incaica, from Argentina, presents programs that celebrate music from around the world and in a variety of styles and languages. They will be joined by Andrew Cook and the Harding University Jazz Band for a special Valentine’s event called Love Lost/ Love Found with tangos and folk music, songs by Joni Mitchell and more.
