HOT SPRINGS — Katie Vickers Cage,

age 88, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022, at her home.

She was born on November 11, 1933, the daughter of Doc Chatman Vickers and Viola Miller Vickers.

On August 20, 1955, she married Leo S. Cage. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Born and raised in Shreveport, La., she married and moved to Little Rock where she was a Realtor for Caldwell Banker for several years; before finally moving to Hot Springs where she spent the last 32 years living on Lake Hamilton.

Katie was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She instilled in her children a love of music and a love for animals. Katie was a “Dog Mom” to the core, she always had canine companions since she was very young.

She graduated from Byrd High School, class of 1952. She was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority at LSU Baton Rouge. She was a “Golf Nut” well into her 80’s and will be greatly missed by her golfing buddies at Diamondhea­d Golf and Country Club. She was also a very accomplish­ed pianist who studied alongside the world renown Van Cliburn, under the direction of Nena Plank Wideman in Shreveport.

She will always be remembered for her quick wit, great laugh and eagerness to enjoy life to the fullest. She made life easier for those close to her and spent many years volunteeri­ng at St. Joseph’s hospital in Hot Springs.

She was Episcopal in her faith and showed tremendous courage in her fight against serious medical issues over last few years and it is a testament to her strength and faith in God.

Katie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris Cage and Roni Pastore of Hayesville, North Carolina and her daughter, Tracy Cage of Tecumseh, Okla.

Rest In Peace. God has gained a kind and loving angel for eternity.

A private memorial service is planned for a later date. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Chris Cage Tracy Cage, Sally Thackery, Jimmy Thackery, Diane Mullin, Nancy Gates and Bunkie Bryant.
