PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Harold Blackwood,
born July 18, 1925, died in Prescott, Arizona, February 17, 2022. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Oliver and Zettie Marie Turner Blackwood; sisters, Ina Rea Gerardi, Martha Sue Farris, Mary Lou McDonald, Frances Gosso; brothers, Oliver Blackwood and Bill J. Blackwood; wife, Bonnie; and son, Jonathan Blackwood. He is survived by son, H. Daniel Blackwood and his wife Patti; son-in-law, Dean Maddalena; granddaughter, McCarthy Hallowell and her husband Nathan; great-grandson, Stewart Cox; and great-granddaughters, Charli and Rylee Hallowell; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold served as navigator of a B-17 in the 8th Air Force in England during World War II, later discharged as a Captain from the Air Force Reserves. He is a graduate of NLR HS. He earned a degree in architecture from Oklahoma State University and designed many churches, banks, commercial buildings, medical clinics, schools, and institutional buildings around Arkansas. His last job was as manager of specifications for the New York City Board of Education/School Construction Authority. He served on the NLR City Beautiful Commission, its president for two years. He served on the NLR Handicapped Services Board for 16 years, its president for two years. He was a member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church.
