92, of Fort Smith, Ark., will be at 10 a.m., on Monday, April 4, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. She was born on October 7, 1929, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Ida (Williamson) Cotten and Joseph Allen Cotten and passed away on March 31, 2022, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Hugh Atwood on October 8, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jane was active in a number of civic and cultural organizati­ons in Jonesboro. She was past president of BN and CF Chapters of P.E.O., past president of Twentieth Century Club, member of St. Bernards Auxiliary, the Ladies Tennis Associatio­n and Duplicate Bridge Clubs. She attended Texas Woman’s University and University of Arkansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

She is survived by her daughter: Susan Atwood McFerran and Mike of Fort Smith, Ark. She was adored by her three grandchild­ren; Allen McFerran and Malarie of Fort Smith, Ark., Jane Jackson and Steve of Conway, Ark., and Ann McFerran and Justin Criddle of Little Rock, Ark.; four great-grandchild­ren: Emerson, Maggie Jane and Hayes McFerran and Harper Kate Jackson; and two nephews: Jim and Suzie Dunn and Don and Cathy Dunn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Atwood, one daughter: Janie Atwood and one son: Allen Atwood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considerin­g a gift to Kitties and Kanines, 4300 Phoenix Avenue, Fort Smith, Ark., 72903, or the charity of your choice.
