SHIRLEY ANNE MASON McMILLAN,

GG to her family, was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, sister, aunt, and friend.

She left this world after a long, happy life on the morning of March 28, 2022. She was born to John and Era Mason on August 17, 1930, in Los Angeles, California, though the family soon moved to Freer, Texas. After graduating from high school, Shirley went to college at Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas, and then moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where she met her husband, Dan McMillan. Together they raised three children: Michael, Craig, and Kevin. Shirley was predecease­d by her husband, Dan, sister, Becky Brown, brother, Billy Mason, and niece, Gay Lynne Brown.

Shirley spent her children’s early years raising them at home and driving them to and from their various sporting events and practices. Later, when the boys got older, she began volunteeri­ng for the Little Rock School District, eventually becoming a much sought-after teacher’s aide and long-term substitute. Shirley continued working for the school district well into her eighties. Shirley is survived by her sons, Michael (wife Terri, children, Meredith Stanton/Cody, Allison George/ Ty, Mason, and great- grandchild, Emmett George), Craig, and Kevin, (daughter, Amanda Spina/Dennis). She also is survived by nephew, Derek Brown (wife Angie, daughters Courtney and Brooklyn) and niece, Terri Lang (husband Larry, son Justin). There will be a private service for Shirley at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of RuebelFune­ralHome.com
